It's been a while

So I kind of lost steam with the whole documenting the progress thing...

This will kind of be a photo dump of where we are today.... We're pretty much over construction, there have been a few more mishaps, a weeks worth of late night painting, and countless hours of more hard work, but we're getting there.

siding all done - we have since replaced those 2x4's with white posts

It's beginning to looking inhabitable

I know what you're thinking, two posts in two days, this is crazy!! Progress is happening at 199, and quickly I might add... yesterday the drywall started going up, the siding kept plugging along and we ended up with this:

 our room

Jaxson's room (maybe, he keeps switching which room he wants!)

 guest room

The two smaller rooms are complete, the drywall crew was back out at 6 am today so I'm sure they will have at least our room done, maybe even the hallway and bathroom too. The finishers (I really want that job title... it suits me) are supposed to be done by September 1st, so I guess we'll see them in the next couple of days, they'll tape, mud and sand giving us a nice smooth surface to paint

the accent color on the front "bump out"

The siding crew is plugging along, they should be done by Friday, perhaps sooner at this point.

Sweet New Kicks

199 has gotten some sweet new kicks over the last week!

I came home last Friday to a new front door!!

I was so ridiculously excited about the red front door.... it's going to look awesome with siding.

This last week has been busy with progress... most of the PVC was done on the exterior of the house.. of course I don't have pictures of that, but I will be sure to get some.

The insulation went in, electrical rough in was finished, the HVAC unit was dropped off and part of it is in the attic now.

Yesterday was a bustle of activity. Jaxson and I were home later then usual because he had his yearly evaluation with Early Intervention so we got a front row seat. John was there to button up some things inside before drywall starts this week, a gaggle of men showed up all driving their own full size trucks with roof racks and equipment to start the siding. They showed up at 7:30, by the time the ladies came for Jaxson's evaluation scaffolding was set up on all four sides of the house and they were already putting up siding!

before I left for work I drove around back to get a sneak peak

Brian sent this when he got home

it looks like a complete different house!

Dry wall was supposed to start today and the siders were back when we left this morning... thinking they'll be done today or tomorrow. Drywall is supposed to be done by September 1st... then the real fun starts... we get to do everything! Paint, flooring, tile .... anyone wanna come help?

Update from the trenches

If there is one thing I can recommend to everyone with a toddler it's renovate a house, while living in it!!!... and if you believe that one I have a bridge for sale in Brooklyn!!  The whole process has been obnoxious and very trying. Most of Jaxson's toys are boxed up in the living room and/or covered in plastic like the rest of the first floor.... Most days I want to scream, oh wait, most days I do scream!

All of the first floor windows were installed over the course of last week. They look great and Brian has started the pain in the ass process of doing the trim and window sills

what he has done looks great but as with everything else in this house nothing is ever easy so it's slow going.

Last week we found out that the previous owners did some funky moves in the bathroom (see above, nothing is easy because of the freaking Bowmans!) and recessed the tub surround into the bathroom wall and there was not enough space for the plumber to run the lines necessary for the upstairs plumbing... so long story short we had to rip our tub surround out to have a new smaller one installed giving them room for the necessary plumbing, they also moved the plumbing from the exterior to the interior wall....

we need to do some patch work to the drywall and we will eventually redo this bathroom completely, but for now the nice new tub and fixtures are enough.

some plumbing upstairs, this will be the potty

  future home of the sink

what was run in the basement to tie it all together, not real sure why that's not in the closet but I can't win them all!

the old cast iron pipe was cut in half and replaced with PVC

Yesterday we had our framing and electrical rough in inspection, and we passed with flying colors.

here's the insulation waiting to be installed.

The mason was supposed to extend the chimney today but his helper didn't so up so he'll be back Monday?? ... I'm starting to realize that people who work in any form of construction do more baby-sitting and excuse making then actual work!!
